A top 10 finalist for this year's Zest food awards, the Black Betty café is primarily a coffee joint that professes the barista expertise of its founder, Hamish Evans.
The man responsible for New Zealand's boutique coffee blender SWITCH, Evans has now bought the innovative brewing methods of 'siphon' and 'pour over' coffee to Christchurch through his new project.
While coffee is definitely the name of the game here (and there are loads to choose from) Black Betty also serves an extensive breakfast menu that's totally hearty, filling and free-range. Established in 2011, this coffee shop in the city centre is both modern and clean. Black Betty's breakfast menu runs until 2.30pm each day.
